Job Description

Genesis is currently seeking Legal Assistants to work in the Settlements Department with a Personal Injury Law Firm in Houston, TX.

The ideal candidate is a go-getter, not afraid to meet with clients and marketers. Very personable and professional & should exude confidence in their work and communication.

Responsibilities: 

• Confirm all liens are requested, received, and resolved.
• Prepare, review, and finalize settlement agreements, releases, and dismissals.
• Audit electronic files to ensure all documents (pleadings, medical records) are saved correctly before disbursement.
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, insurance companies, and providers regarding settlement status.
• Accurately enter data, track settlement deadlines, and manage attorney calendars.
• Collaborate with paralegals/attorneys to prepare files for final payout.

Qualifications:

• Must be bilingual and fluent in both English and Spanish
• At least 1-year in a legal setting, ideally focusing on personal injury defense.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and experience with case management software (e.g., Clio)
• Exceptional attention to detail to manage high-volume cases and meet strict deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication for negotiating with lienholders and communicating with clients.
• Must have entry level accounting experience
• Must be punctual and reliable
• Must have a positive attitude and great customer service skills
• Must pay attention to details, work must be accurate
• Must be organized and able to manage heavy case load
• Must be able to prioritize tasks/deadlines
• Must be able to work well under pressure
• Must have excellent communication skills

Work Schedule: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday through Friday

Pay range: $16/hr with no prior legal experience; $17/hr with (recent) previous experience working in a law firm.
