Cloud / DevOps Engineer
Location: Freiburg, Germany · Hybrid / Remote (Germany)

Compensation: €75,000–€95,000 base salary

About the Role

We are looking for a Cloud / DevOps Engineer to design, build, and operate the cloud infrastructure powering our AI platform. You will take ownership of Azure infrastructure, automation, Kubernetes, CI/CD, security, and reliability while working closely with software and ML engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and operate secure, scalable, and highly available Azure cloud infrastructure across compute, networking, storage, identity, and platform services.
• Build and maintain infrastructure using Terraform or Bicep, with a strong focus on automation, consistency, and repeatable deployments.
• Deploy and operate Docker and Kubernetes/AKS environments, including scaling, networking, upgrades, security, and production troubleshooting.
• Design and improve CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar technologies to enable reliable and efficient software delivery.
• Establish strong cloud security, observability, and reliability practices covering IAM, secrets, monitoring, logging, alerting, backup, and disaster recovery.
• Partner with engineering and ML teams to support AI/ML workloads, optimize cloud performance and cost, and prepare infrastructure for future scale.
• Own infrastructure initiatives end-to-end, contribute to architecture decisions and incident response, and continuously improve platform engineering standards.

Requirements

• 2–6 years of hands-on experience in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, SRE, or a related field.
• Strong production experience with Microsoft Azure, including cloud architecture, deployment, networking, identity, security, and operations.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform or Bicep and a strong Infrastructure as Code mindset.
• Production experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, networking, observability, reliability, and automation, with solid Linux and scripting skills.
• Experience designing and operating production systems with a focus on availability, scalability, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Strong ownership, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI/ML or GPU-based workloads.
• Experience with AWS or Google Cloud alongside Azure.
• Experience with manufacturing, industrial IoT, robotics, or similar environments.
• Experience with GitOps, Helm, Argo CD, Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
• Experience building or scaling infrastructure in an early-stage startup environment.
