Job Description

Are you energized by public policy, legislative affairs, and the inner workings of government? A well-established Washington, D.C. law firm is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented professional for an Assistant opportunity with the Government Relations Team. In this role, you’ll provide essential administrative and operational support to a fast-moving practice while contributing to meaningful client work through research, writing, and legislative tracking. If you have strong government-related internships or relevant work experience gained through school and are eager to build your career with a collaborative, high-performing team, we’d love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a trusted administrative partner to the government relations team by managing calendars, coordinating meetings, arranging travel logistics, handling incoming calls, preparing meeting materials, and assisting with monthly client billing.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, track congressional activity, and conduct policy research to support client initiatives and strategic priorities.
  • Prepare, edit, and proofread a variety of written materials, including client correspondence, policy memoranda, advocacy documents, position papers, and internal communications.
  • Research complex policy topics, summarize findings into clear, actionable materials, and help ensure the accuracy and quality of final deliverables.
  • Partner with colleagues across the practice to support ongoing projects, coordinate workflow, and provide seamless coverage across client assignments.

Why You’ll Love Working Here:

  • Join a collaborative and close-knit team of experienced professionals who value mentorship, teamwork, and professional development.
  • Following onboarding, you’ll have the flexibility to work remotely one day per week, with the expectation of being available to work on-site full-time when business needs require.
  • Enjoy a competitive benefits package that includes generous paid time off, paid overtime, profit sharing, an on-site fitness center, and 100% employer-paid individual health insurance premiums.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A passion for government and public policy. You hold a bachelor’s degree and have at least one year of relevant experience. Candidates with internships in government affairs, public policy, legislative analysis, or experience on Capitol Hill are encouraged to apply!
  • A collaborative mindset. You’re eager to contribute wherever needed, enjoy working as part of a team, and welcome opportunities to expand your responsibilities as your experience grows.
  • Quick with a computer. You’re comfortable learning and navigating multiple technology platforms and have experience with tools such as Windows 10, Microsoft Office Suite, Chrome River, OpenText DM, EMS Web App, and InterAction.
  • Highly organized and proactive. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, can effectively manage competing priorities, and consistently bring strong attention to detail, initiative, and follow-through to your work.

The salary listed reflects the anticipated compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, location, business considerations, and internal equity. Final offer amounts are determined at the employer’s discretion.
