About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly qualified, and student-centred A Level English Teacher to join our secondary school in Shenzhen.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and academically rigorous English lessons to students preparing for their A Level examinations. You will inspire students to develop sophisticated reading, writing, analysis, communication, and critical-thinking skills while supporting them to achieve excellent academic outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons for A Level students.
Prepare students effectively for A Level examinations and coursework requirements.
Develop students’ analytical, critical-thinking, essay-writing, and communication skills.
Teach a broad range of literary and non-literary texts, encouraging students to engage critically with different perspectives, contexts, and ideas.
Develop students’ confidence in constructing sophisticated arguments and expressing ideas clearly and accurately.
Use a range of teaching strategies to accommodate different abilities, learning styles, and levels of English proficiency.
Set, mark, and provide detailed and constructive feedback on classwork, homework, coursework, and assessments.
Track student progress and implement appropriate intervention and support strategies.
Develop students’ independent learning, research, and examination skills.
Encourage students to read widely and develop a genuine appreciation of English language and literature.
Maintain high expectations for academic achievement, behaviour, and student engagement.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop schemes of work, assessments, and curriculum resources.
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and development.
Contribute to the wider academic and extracurricular life of the school.
Support university preparation and progression where appropriate, including helping students develop strong personal statements, academic profiles, and communication skills.
Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, school events, and other responsibilities as required.

Passionate about English Language and/or Literature and committed to inspiring students.
An excellent classroom practitioner with strong subject knowledge.
Able to teach challenging material in an engaging, accessible, and age-appropriate way.
Skilled at developing students’ analytical writing and critical-thinking abilities.
Able to motivate high-achieving students and challenge them to reach their full potential.
Experienced in differentiating instruction and supporting students with varied levels of English proficiency.
A reflective and collaborative educator who is committed to continuous professional development.
Organised, reliable, and able to work effectively within a busy international school environment.
Culturally sensitive and comfortable working with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
Bachelor’s degree in English, English Literature, Education, or a related subject.
Recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, iPGCE, or equivalent.
Relevant experience teaching English at A Level or equivalent senior secondary level.
Strong knowledge of A Level English Language, English Literature, or both.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Experience preparing students for external examinations.
